Studio VARA is a San Francisco based design practice encompassing Architecture, Urban Design and Interior Design. We are looking for an exceptional Project Manager / Architect to lead the design and documentation of multi-family residential, single-family and commercial projects.
We are looking for a highly motivated design and technically minded individual with a minimum of 10 years of post-degree experience leading complex, highly detailed, multi-family housing projects. Experience with custom residential and/or commercial projects highly desired.  Candidates must combine considerable design and construction detailing experience with an ability to create and manage internal production teams and external consultants.
Our award-winning studio is young, dynamic, creative, and collaborative with plenty of room for professional growth.  We have the feel of a startup, but with the depth of experience and professionalism of a larger office.

Work with project principals to oversee all phases of projects from schematic design through construction administration.
Lead the design, detailing, and full documentation of the interior & exterior architecture on selected projects, while providing expertise across multiple projects across the office.
Assign tasks to staff members and manage deadlines for production, renderings, presentations and research.
Produce and manage project schedules, work plans, client correspondence and documentation.
Develop and manage project budgets and fees.

Minimum of 10 years of experience designing, documenting, detailing and coordinating multi-family housing projects, high-end residential and/or commercial projects.
Proven experience leading, mentoring & training junior and intermediate staff in all phases of project detailing and documentation.
Modern design skills and strong abilities in technical detailing for Type III over podium and Type-V construction. Experience with other building Types is a plus.
Exceptional skill in construction detailing and assemblies, management of construction documents and leading the production of a complete construction document set.
Thorough understanding of construction administration and means and methods.
Thorough knowledge of AIA contracts, project specifications and material research & development.
Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD expected.
Experience with Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, V-Ray and 3D Max are a plus.
Licensed architect in California or in the process of licensure.
