Intermediate Designer

San Francisco, CA
Andrew Mann Architecture

Andrew Mann Architecture is seeking an Intermediate Designer with five to seven years of work experience with a minimum of three years of custom residential design experience.  A well-rounded, enthusiastic, motivated person who would like to participate in a collaborative, creative work environment will thrive in this position. The well-respected firm specializes in the design of high-end custom residential architecture.  The office’s work is rooted in the tradition of the Bay Area style and is characterized by a crispness of detail, a richness of space and a sophisticated use of natural light.

Employment at Andrew Mann Architecture offers the candidate the opportunity to contribute to the design process, work with exceptional design and construction teams, follow the development of projects from conception through completion and be involved in the craft of architecture and building.  Mentorship plays an important role in ethos of the firm; for the right person, this position has the potential to grow along with the growth of the firm.

The main responsibilities for the position shall include participation in the development of single family residential projects from the schematic design phase through construction administration. This will require working with the project team on the development of design ideas, communication with clients, assistance with the coordination of consultants, research of local codes, production of construction documents, guidance of projects through the approvals process and involvement in the resolution of issues that arise during construction.  The firm looks to the strengths each team member brings to the table in order to finalize the position description, but generalists who can manage, design, and communicate thrive in this office.

Candidate must have past experience in the design, documentation and construction administration of wood-frame construction residential buildings. Candidates should have a familiarity with the Bay Area style and an understanding of design, detailing, and assemblies. Applicants must have impeccable references and management skills. The office works in Revit; familiarity with it or other BIM software is required.  Candidates must have a working understanding of California codes and CAL Green codes and be familiar with the entitlement process.

Candidate’s background must include three years of work experience in custom residential design, and a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree of architecture.  Licensed applicants or those on the path to licensure will be prioritized.  The firm provides competitive compensation and a generous employee benefits program including health insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan.
