The Graduate Architect position assists in architectural design, documentation and construction administration; creates feasibility and concept studies; develops 2D and 3D images of current and potential projects; ensures that all of the firm’s projects and designs are feasible, meets the clients’ needs and budget, and reflects Crawford Architects' standards, mission and goals.

The Graduate Architect’s first assignment will be to assist with design management services for the University of California, Santa Cruz Student Housing West P3 Project. The candidate will be a Crawford Architects’ employee and a participant within the University’s project delivery team headed up by WT Partnership located on the Santa Cruz campus.

This is a campus expansion to accommodate approximately 3,000 student beds, a child care center, and related support facilities, site improvements and infrastructure across two separate sites on the campus. Design review efforts have begun. Construction is scheduled to commence September 2018 and all facilities completed by July 2022.
Essential Job Functions:
Architectural design, design development and documentation
Review of developer’s architectural documents for contractual compliance with design standards
Completion of feasibility and concept studies
Assist with master planning efforts
Provides construction administration services - overseeing the project completion
Development of As-Built drawing sets to deliver to client
Digital rendering and 3D modeling
If sufficiently experienced, will take the leadership roles of project manager and/or job captain
Maintain relationships with clients, sub-contractors and construction team, answer questions and provide solutions
Assist with creating client presentations and interviews

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  An accredited Bachelor of Science and | or Bachelor of Architecture degree or a Master of Architecture

Experience: Recent graduate to five years of experience in the practice of architecture and | or architectural design | documentation

Necessary Skills:       
Strong creative and technical thinking skills
Strong presentation & graphic communication skills
Strong verbal & written skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suites
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong administrative and project management skills with the ability to work within budgetary guidelines
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to build relationships and work successfully with many different constituents and personnel
All around practical knowledge preferred
