JSA is seeking an architectural designer to assist with a publication and website that documents Stalled!, a design research project dedicated to the creation of inclusive public restrooms that meet the needs of people of different ages, genders, religions and disabilities. (see more at

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded designer skilled in research, design and representation, with a passion for applying these skills to timely social justice issues.  He/she/they will work closely with Principal Joel Sanders to conduct research, refine design prototypes and create diagrams, drawings, and renderings that will be posted on an open-source Stalled! website and exhibited at various venues in USA and Europe in the summer/fall 2018.

Initially, the position will be limited to the duration of this 3-4 month project. However, it might be extended to a longer-term or become permanent if the project allows.

Skills & Requirements:

Professional degree (B. Arch or M. Arch for an accredited US university)
Familiarity in 2D and 3D software (AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Rhinoceros) required
1-3 years’ professional experience a plus
Familiarity with 360 rendering, and video production and web-site development a plus
Prior US work authorization – visas will not be sponsored.
