Katrina Hernandez and Joshua Greene founded their interior design firm in 2014 and, within just one year, landed on Architectural Digest’s “Ones to Watch” list. The duo met while overseeing the interiors department at Sawyer | Berson after separately working for highly influential design companies including Ralph Lauren, Michael Smith, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) and Gap.
Their New York-based atelier has become known for ultra-sophisticated interiors characterized by a refined sense of color, texture and pattern. With projects ranging from modern to traditional, Hernandez Greene crafts stylish yet comfortable environments tailored to each client. Hernandez Greene is a full service interior design firm looking for an up-beat, highly motivated individual to join our team as a junior architect or junior interior designer. The position will work closely with the principals on all aspects of the design and development of residential projects but specifically produce concepts and detailed architectural drawings in AutoCAD of kitchens, bathrooms, custom millwork and furniture. Alongside the drafting responsibilities, the role will also be required to manage the decorating process from conceptual design through to completion.
If you are more architecture focused but have an interest in decor, we'll teach you that part. That includes shopping for furniture, fabrics and architectural materials (tile, stone, plumbing etc) as well as writing proposals, executing purchase orders, tracking the delivery of the décor and installing the items on site. The role will also establish and manage project material schedules such as paint, tile and stone and plumbing etc. and collaborate and coordinate with the various architecture firms we work with.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
1-3 years of professional experience at a residential architectural firm.
Ability to manage multiple projects and multiple deadlines.
Assist Principals with preparation of presentations for clients meetings, from design development through installation.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors and sub-contractors while ensuring quality of final product for client.
Develop and manage project schedules.
Ability to hand render / sketch a plus.
Ability to survey a site when architectural drawings have not been provided.
Familiarity with furniture, finishes, fabric, hardware, plumbing, accessories and art used in high-end residential projects.
Keep all activities involved in the project up to date such as: updating and analyzing the project budget, making and producing purchase orders, tracking the merchandise from point of purchase through to installation.
Must be highly organized and efficient, a logical thinker with strong communication skills. Responsible, organized, self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit!
AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Cloud, MS Office Suite. Familiarity with Studio Designer a plus
