BASIC PURPOSE: Provide architectural design and documentation support for Newbuild projects. Assist with interior design coordination and presentations. Work closely with external and internal consultants and business owners.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide administrative support to the Newbuild Design Team to ensure the efficiency of the day-to-day operation.
Maintain computer filing system for drawings from shipyard, in-house design team, outside architects and consultants; archive, log, and organize files regularly.
Maintain and record incoming and outgoing correspondence related to Newbuild projects.
Work closely with the Newbuild Design Team to assist in the preparation of change requests, spreadsheets, CAD drawings and custom reports.
Create architectural designs and layouts formatted as electronic drawing files.
Analyze studies of design concepts, including those generated by architects and designers; make recommendations to Newbuild Design Team based on findings.
Assist with the development of Newbuild specifications and general arrangement plans.
Work with the Marketing Department to review visuals for architectural accuracy and detail.
Research new products for furniture, fabrics and lighting fixtures with responsibility for maintaining the design team¿s resource product library. Meet with vendors regularly.
Assist with selection of appropriate finishes and furniture options for new design projects.
Handle project management of special assignments.
Perform other job related functions as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and/or Interior Design or any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 4 years' experience in architecture, interior design and project management. 3-4 years experience working with AutoCAD in related field.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and advanced skills with AutoCAD, Acrobat Suite, and Photoshop. Ability to develop various approaches to design details, taking into consideration a deep understanding for interior construction methods. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, both orally and in writing. Ability to efficiently manage time and workload which includes planning, organizing, prioritizing, and following through on a variety of tasks, assignments, projects and reports. Ability to pay close attention to detail, ensuring strict accuracy in work. Ability to use prudent judgment that will assist NCL in meeting its mission. Troubleshooting skills to coordinate accurate drawings while avoiding conflict in interpretation of drawing information. Ability to travel occasionally onboard ships, approximately 10% of time.
