Omgivning is Swedish for ambiance, setting, and environment.  Since its 2009 inception, Omgivning has become a recognized firm in Downtown Los Angeles Architecture and Interior Design.  The firm's wide range of projects includes adaptive reuse multi-family housing, hotels, creative office, neighborhood restaurants/bars, historic theaters and furniture design.

Omgivning's focus is to strengthen urban communities through architecture and interior design.  Our experience and passion has led us to become one of the most sought after experts in the adaptive reuse and revitalization of existing and historic buildings in Downtown Los Angeles.  

With the goals of the owner or investors as our point of departure, we consider the neighborhood's history, aesthetics, current uses and growth patterns, as well as the building’s particular challenges and opportunities.  We combine this understanding of place with our substantial experience with City requirements and regulations to create spaces that succeed for the client and the community.  Omgivning has provided Architectural services on over 100 buildings, primarily in Downtown Los Angeles.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual whose interests and passions lie in rejuvenating, restoring and rebuilding DTLA.


An architectural or interior design degree with anywhere from 3 TO 8+ years experience in an architectural office environment
Self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills
A well-rounded professional background with experience in all project phases, technical research and detailing
A solid understanding of construction documents and strong visualization abilities
Proficiency in Revit is required. (Minimum of 1 year in office application).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suites, handsketches and computer renderings is a plus
Experience in both existing and new construction a plus
Ability to self-manage a project with direction from a Project Manager            

Support the Project Manager in development of the design and detailing
Assume responsibility for the production, organization, coordination, thoroughness, and accuracy of the 3-D BIM model and all documents in the drawing set
Communicate with and coordinate the efforts of project team members, clients, consultants, contractors and agency officials
Assist the Project Manager to track budget and schedule, organize workflow and anticipate required staff resources
Work with the project team to produce presentation materials for client and agency presentations
Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a benefit package with Health insurance coverage. Dental and Vision optional. Matching 401k after one year.
