Stayner Architects a small, six-person architecture, development, and construction management practice located in the walkable and diverse Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Stayner Architects seeks to be rigorous its design, cunning in its built realization, and comprehensive in its approach to shaping the built environment.

We are currently seeking a full-time Project Designer to assist with a variety of commercial, residential, institutional, and hospitality projects that are currently in design and construction. We are looking for a highly-motivated individuals who are interested in taking on challenges and playing an active role in projects, with involvement in design and translation into constructed form. This is a great opportunity to be involved in projects from initial concept through to realization.

Qualifications for Project Designer:

Master’s degree in architecture from an accredited university preferred, licensure not required

2-4 years of professional architectural experience in all phases of the design process

Aesthetic judgement and the ability realization of abstract concepts through physical form, space, and material

Experience or familiarity with building code and zoning research, especially California and Los Angeles

Understanding of construction methods, materials, and technical detailing

Ability to communicate and interface with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, permitting agencies, and clients

Interest in excellence in both design and construction, from project inception through realization

Proficient in BIM (Autodesk Revit) and an enthusiasm for tackling new plug-in software packages

Motivated, independent, and cooperative problem solver with a strong work ethic and excellent communication and listening skills

Ability to coordinate and help lead the work of design team

Our small practice is engaged in a holistic approach to architecture. Unlike most architectural firms we expect an agility in moving across multiple roles in the design process. For example, this means you may assist in the development of a pro forma for a project, or may be engaged in construction management in the field, or asked to participate in graphic design and branding, or involved in developing shop drawings for furniture, or fabricating and assembling lighting in our workshop, or developing project proposals for new clients.
