The firm’s open studio environment encourages a creative process. We are looking for a Junior Architectural Model Maker to work under the guidance of our Lead Model Maker.

Primary Responsibilities for Junior Architectural Model Maker
The position requires an individual that feels comfortable in a fast-paced environment; WBA’s design philosophy seeks to embody our client’s vision, and in many ways, the model shop is the “engine” that drives our design process toward this goal. Our design process uses every tool at our disposal and is grounded in hands-on model building throughout, from a project's programming phase to producing full-scale mock-ups during construction.

The successful candidate for this position will collaborate with architectural design teams to plan and construct physical architectural models that support ongoing projects as well as marketing pursuits. Additional responsibilities range from organizing and cleaning the shop to the careful packaging of models for shipment.

Preferred Qualifications
A professional degree in the design realm is desired but not required. A qualified candidate must have experience making models, preferably architectural, ideally over a period of 1-2 years’. Attention to detail and finish is very important.

• Skills should include working with (foamboard, chipboard, basswood, and various plastics).
• Comfortable working with a variety of equipment relative to the applied area of modeling (ex. Craft knifes, table saw, bandsaw, hand held power tools, spray painting, laser cutter, etc.)
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, Rhino is highly desirable.
• Experience with photography, artistic/graphic design, and model lighting is also a plus.

Located in Boston’s Financial District, we are growing and are looking to add an Architectural Designer to our spirited team.

The ideal candidate holds an architecture degree, has at least 4-7 years of experience, and good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to convey an architectural concept through diagrams, sketches and three-dimensional models is paramount. Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Vray, Adobe Creative Suite is essential. We are seeking a motivated candidate whose strong design skills are complimented by the ability to visualize complex three-dimensional spaces.

Our office requires people to work collaboratively and independently. Some of your responsibilities will include contributing to design concepts, preparing design and construction documents, producing presentation materials, and contributing to on-going marketing or internal research projects.
