Notes to Applicants
This position will support the Residential Volume Builder Program, an optional expedited review program available for volume builders. Duties as described in the “Duties, Functions and Responsibilities” section of this posting. More specific functions are:
Receiving and processing applications for new volume builder communities submitted by Volume Builder registrants.
Diverting reviews to Third Party Contractor, and monitoring the Third Party Review Contract budget.
Assigning work to staff
Performing technical building codes reviews
Issuing rejection comments and approvals
Monitor performance of volume builder participants through audit reviews.
Other related duties as assigned and necessary to meet business needs, including leadership role are possible.

Pay Range $27.34 – $35.41
Hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Additional hours evenings and/or weekends may be required based on business needs.

Can demonstrate direct and relevant involvement in architectural or engineering building design, construction, building inspections, or technical building plan review.
Has knowledge and experience working with the International Residential Code.
Has knowledge and experience working with the City of Austin Land Development Code.

* The minimum qualifications for a Plans Examiner A are graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Geography, Landscape Architecture or other field related to design or construction and one (1) year of related technical or professional experience. One (1) additional year of relevant work experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four (4) years. Master’s degree may substitute for experience up to a maximum of two (2) years. Do you meet these qualifications?
