Architectural Production Designers work closely with the CAD Manager, in addition to being a vital member of the Studio Design Team. The Architectural Production Designer ensures design is constructible and drawings are clearly documented and interpreted properly. This position has a high level of responsibility for providing accurate and efficient documentation support within your Studio Design Team. The Architectural Production Designer ensures design, construction details and elevation documentation is organized, clear and conforms to all SS5 drafting standards.
Measures of Success:
Becomes an integral part of the Design Process and Studio Structure by efficiently documenting design intent and contributing to the overall design of the Project.
Becomes the gatekeeper and leader of efficient Construction Documentation within their Studio Design Team.
Works well with other team members in coordinating the Design and Construction Documents while meeting all deadlines.
Discovers and teaches efficient CAD methods to team members.
Coordinates all CAD efforts with the CAD Manager and communicates information to the other Studio Design Team members.
Assures StudioSIX5 documents are fully coordinated with all consultant drawings.
Creates and documents CAD (Revit & ACAD) generated plans, elevations, details, sections and schedules as required to fulfill SS5 contractual obligations.
Assures integrity of CAD data files created.
As a vital team member, you support and interface with all other Studio Design Team Members to assure feasibility of design and apply concepts to design details.
Maintains and communicates drafting standards with Studio Members while working with the CAD Manager.
Consistently works and collaborates with CAD Manager to ensure accurate information, techniques and methods of production are efficient and consistent with SS5 drawing standards.
Continuously utilizes standard details to improve project profitability.
Accurately interprets and modifies drawing redlines.
Assists with coordination of consultant drawings, i.e., architectural, food service/MEP.
Assists CAD Manager in troubleshooting software integration issues.
Completes drafting tasks within allotted hours.
Completes self-reviews of drafting tasks before handoff to Design Team Member.
Assists CAD Manager in producing and developing policies and procedures to ensure the drawing library, standards and families are kept current in a consistent format.
Exhibits proficiency in current industry drafting, BIM and rendering software.
Extensive technical knowledge of building systems, specifications and construction methods, codes and zoning issues.
Extensive technical knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and electronic models.
Demonstrates ability to work independently, and as part of a team, and is an avid learner.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to be proactive and maintain a positive attitude with a resourceful approach.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow a task to completion.
Advanced computer skills to include AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, 3DS Max, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
Experience / Education:
Three to five (3-5) years of experience as a CAD/Revit Production Designer in an Interior Design or Architectural firm is required.
Experience in senior living, hospitality, multi-family, or healthcare design is preferred.
Minimum of an Associates of Applied Science in Architectural Specialization or related field. Bachelor's Architectural Degree and/or Interior Architectural Degree preferred.
